Congratulations, Zsa Zsa Kapow

The Jules and Regulations Award was established in 2017 to recognize female-identifying officials who have demonstrated excellence in officiating women’s flat track roller derby and empowering other female-identifying officials.

This year’s award was presented at our recent Put Up Your Toques invitational by Jules and Regulations herself to Zsa Zsa Kapow of Forest City Derby Girls.

Farewell Konky

How does anyone begin to describe the impact that number two thousand has had on Tri-City and the sport of modern flat track roller derby at large?

Perhaps we need to borrow a phrase from another fandom: Konky quite simply, is and was The People’s Champion. Ask the children at the bout who they are here to see, and the answer is clear. The die-hards in lawn chairs and blankets always hope that Konky jumps some bodies in the warm-up. They may still do for some time to come.

Self-taught, self-aware and eyes on the prize, Konky directed her own career with enviable candour. If it wasn’t right, she didn’t do it.

Always a showboat but never a slow boat, she remains the epitome of a skater who always understood the connection between skater and fan.

Long live derby, and long live the legacy of Konky.

An OG skater who started in January 2008, Konky skated her last game with the Venus Fly Tramps at the Beast of the East Tournament April 28-29. For more photos, visit our Facebook page.

Home Opener April 7

It’s the opening night of Tri-City Roller Derby’s 10th season, and we have got a TRIPLE HEADER of derby action for you!

Our first bout of the night will feature the always impressive Tri-City Junior Roller Derby.

The second bout of the evening is TROLLER DERBY! You, the fans, will have the opportunity to buy into this game and make changes to how it’s played! You will be able to put players into the penalty box, have all skaters on the track play a whole jam while dancing, or switch the jammers into opposite teams – among many other changes. Tri-City alumni from years past alongside current skaters will take the track in this wild game. Go hear to learn more and to buy your Whammies in advance. Presale ends Friday, April 6 at 11pm.

The last bout of the night is another chapter in a longstanding league rivalry: the Venus Fly Tramps take on the Vicious Dishes in a full-contact bout! The Tramps took home the win in the 2017 season, so no doubt the Dishes will be looking serve up some revenge. To add to the intrigue of this game, Dishes and Tramps of years past will be joining their former teams to once again skate for victory!

This is a licensed and all ages event. All Tri-City Roller Derby games are family friendly and appropriate for all ages. We offer activities to our younger fans when they need a little break from the action.

Beer and snacks available for purchase as well as our merch and other booths from our amazing supporters.

Please note all bouts will be 40 minutes for this event.
