Mac and Cheese Cook Off! – March 7

Tri-City Thunder is back with the FIFTH annual Mac and Cheese Cook Off!!

Come and try up to 20 versions of macaroni and cheese, indulge in sweet treats and test your luck in our raffles, all while supporting your local roller derby travel team!

Tri-City Roller Derby is a not for profit sports league and all of the skaters pay to play! Help them out a little, while having fun and filling your belly!

October 19 – SODA Cup “A” Finals

An entire season of bouts, leading up to the top four teams playing for the SODA Cup!

The first game of the night, will be your third and fourth place teams. Battling it out for bronze will be Tri-City’s own Venus Fly Tramps, and the Killer Queens of Royal City Roller Derby!

The second bout of the evening is for gold and silver! The Atom Smashers of Durham Region will be playing Tri-City’s Vicious Dishes! In the last game of the round robin, the Atom Smashers took the win over the Dishes – but don’t let that result fool you – the Dishes are ready for a rematch!

All Tri-City Roller Derby games are family friendly and appropriate for all ages. We offer activities to our younger fans when they need a little break from the action.

Snacks will be available for purchase as well as our merch and some other fabulous booths by our amazing supporters! So bring your CASH!

After the game, stick around and join the skaters for some fun photo ops and program signing!

Put Up Your Toques

Tri-City’s Put Up Your Toques is back May 3-5, 2019 for its fifth year, and you don’t want to miss out on Canada’s longest running active Women’s Flat Track Roller Derby invitational, featuring three days of exciting sanctioned and regulation bouts.

**Note the venue change: We will be moving Put Up Your Toques to RIM Park. The Waterloo Siskins Junior B Hockey Club have earned their place in the Championships for the Sutherland Cup, which means that the City will be keeping the ice at the Waterloo Memorial Rec Centre to accommodate. Congrats to the Siskins on a very successful season thus far!

Our new location, Rim Park is located at 2001 University Avenue East, Waterloo, ON N2K 4K4.

Bottle Drive Fundraiser

Got bottles and cans hanging around but not up to the task of returning them?

We will gladly take them off your hands! All you have to do it fill out this super quick form with when and where, leave them outside, and we will pop by to grab them.

Pick ups are available in Kitchener, Waterloo, Hamilton, Burlington, London and St. Catharines. All wine, beer and spirit containers over 100ml are happily accepted.

Proceeds will help support our teams’ ongoing travel and tournament costs.

Learn Roller Derby

Get ready to begin your roller derby and skating education!

Our 12-weeks Foundations program will prep you for your skating journey, whether you wish to one day play for Tri-City Roller Derby, be a skating referee, or just learn some really cool skating and derby skills.

Classes focus on a range of skating skills such as: skating form, building speed and confidence, stopping, blocking, falling safely, working in the pack and playing the game (the best part).

After completion of the program and a pass of your WFTDA minimum skills, you will be eligible to join Tri-City league practices and the development team, the Total Knock Outs. And if you’re interested in becoming a referee, we have an excellent officials crew that will be happy to help you on that side of the journey too!

Next Home Game June 9

The evening features Tri-City’s Total Knock Outs taking the track against the Toronto Roller Derby Vipers. And in the second game, Tri-City Thunder take on the Brute Leggers from Guelph’s Royal City Roller Derby.

Home Opener April 7

It’s the opening night of Tri-City Roller Derby’s 10th season, and we have got a TRIPLE HEADER of derby action for you!

Our first bout of the night will feature the always impressive Tri-City Junior Roller Derby.

The second bout of the evening is TROLLER DERBY! You, the fans, will have the opportunity to buy into this game and make changes to how it’s played! You will be able to put players into the penalty box, have all skaters on the track play a whole jam while dancing, or switch the jammers into opposite teams – among many other changes. Tri-City alumni from years past alongside current skaters will take the track in this wild game. Go hear to learn more and to buy your Whammies in advance. Presale ends Friday, April 6 at 11pm.

The last bout of the night is another chapter in a longstanding league rivalry: the Venus Fly Tramps take on the Vicious Dishes in a full-contact bout! The Tramps took home the win in the 2017 season, so no doubt the Dishes will be looking serve up some revenge. To add to the intrigue of this game, Dishes and Tramps of years past will be joining their former teams to once again skate for victory!

This is a licensed and all ages event. All Tri-City Roller Derby games are family friendly and appropriate for all ages. We offer activities to our younger fans when they need a little break from the action.
